Lebanon is facing a severe economic, financial, and political crisis, which has been intensified over the past year by the armed conflict with Israel. According to IOM data, approximately 190,000 people remain displaced due to the conflict, around 30% of them in Sidon and 20% in Tyre, where the project will be implemented. They face acute food insecurity, lack access to kitchens and hot meals, many are reducing the number of daily meals and purchasing lower-quality food. Access to water is also limited.
The project »Environmentally friendly produced food, health and protection from violence for well-being of women in Lebanon« is carried out primarily in the cities of Sidon and Tyre. It will improve food security and health, protect and restore the dignity of internally displaced persons, refugees, and other vulnerable Lebanese, Syrian, and Palestinian families—especially women and their children—while simultaneously strengthening gender equality and social cohesion within communities.
The following key activities will be implemented within the project:
The project is being implemented in partnership with Institute Circle and Slovenian expert partners, covering the fields of sustainable agriculture, nutrition, entrepreneurship, psychosocial support, and ensuring access to safe drinking water.
The project is financed by Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia within international development cooperation.
