Child Ali Bakri Raises the Voices of Children in Geneva: Nabaa Calls for Protecting Children’s Rights in Lebanon
Proud to highlight Naba’a’s high-level advocacy last week in Geneva, where we presented urgent, evidence-based priorities ahead of Lebanon’s Universal Periodic Review (UPR) UPR Info
Through direct engagement with UN Missions and 27 EU Member States, we brought forward the realities facing Lebanon’s children today:
• 700,000 children out of school
• Rising child labor
• Widespread poverty and food insecurity
• Declining access to healthcare
• A collapsing public education system
During the UPR pre-session, child advocate Ali Bakri delivered a powerful reminder to the international community:
“Do not let this be another report. Let it be a rescue plan for an entire generation.”
Our message was clear, children must not only be discussed; they must be heard, and their rights must be upheld as a binding obligation under international law.
Naba’a remains committed to transforming field insights into global action and shaping policies that protect the dignity, safety, and future of every child in Lebanon.
