Strengthening Mental Health and Psychosocial Support

28 Jan 2017

The Syrian refugee crisis has resulted in massive population displacement and a vast need for humanitarian aid. The impact on mental health and the well-being of displaced people is significant and requires both short-term and longer-term solutions. It is critical to focus on mental health and psychosocial support and to implement community-based mental health care.

Strengthening Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in Lebanese Akkar villages and Palestinian camps and gatherings for children, women and families effected by the Syrian Crisis. The project is based on three main areas:

  • Building the capabilities of staff to provide the necessary support for Syrian and Palestinian refugee children, women and adolescents based on child protection and psychosocial intervention during emergencies.
  • Providing recreational activities, life skills and methodologies aimed at improving their emotional and social well-being.
  • Providing children with advanced psychosocial support through art therapy sessions and individual counseling.
